Description

Humane Society of Missouri has an opportunity for individuals looking for part-time employment. We have a variety of part-time positions open in our shelter, located on Macklind Avenue in Saint Louis. Eligible candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent with at least three months of customer service experience and/or professional animal handling experience.

Applicants must be able to work 20 to 30 hours a week. Each shift is a minimum of 4 hours long. Being available to work weekend hours is crucial to the roles available for part-time employment with HSMO.

The employment opportunities are listed below with further description. Each role available is an entry-level position. All applicants will be considered for all three positions.

Animal Adoption Counselor

Animal Adoption Counselors are in charge of taking care of dogs, cats, rabbits, and other pets while they wait for their new families to take them to their forever home. Responsibilities include: feeding, watering, walking, kennel sanitation, and general care of the animals in our care.

Customer Service & Animal Specialist (Front Desk)

Customer Service & Animal Specialists handle interactions in-person and by phone to assist with conducting animal intaking/receiving as well as processing and adoption of animals. Additional responsibilities include cleaning reception area, completing and filing paperwork, operating our computer system, and providing essential care to animals received.

Animal Care Specialist

Animal Care Specialists provides all animals with proper care and attention - including cleaning and sanitizing (cages, runs, floors and rooms), providing food and water, and restraining animals for medical procedures. Potential candidates must be able to work well in challenging emotional settings.
