Description
Our Education department is currently seeking Camp Counselors to support HSMO's Summer Camp program. Under the general direction of the Kids for Critters Camp Directors, the Camp Counselor will be responsible for assisting with the overall program, supervision of children ages 6-14 and the day-to-day operation of the camp program. Camp Counselors will also help ensure the implementation of developmentally appropriate practices, safety protocols and help meet the individual needs of each camper while modeling, practicing and carrying out the values of compassion, honesty and respect for all. Qualifications include: passionate about serving foster/adoptive youth and families; demonstrates empathy towards animals and a desire to make a positive impact in their lives; completed a minimum of 60 hours towards a Bachelor’s Degree in social work, education or related field; ability to relate to and collaborate with children, parents, fellow staff members and volunteers; must pass a criminal background check, as well as a CAN check; and some experience working with children with complex trauma that presents as elevated emotional, behavioral or developmental concerns is preferred.

This temporary, seasonal position pays $10/hour and requires that candidates are available the following dates/times:
Camp Weeks: Mon-Fri from 8am-5pm, June 11-29th
Pre-Camp Training: June 4th-6th from 9-4pm, May 23rd and May 30th approx. 9am-4pm
Monday, July 2 from 9am-1pm for feedback and reflection
